Moss on the ground of the abandoned Fisher Body Plant 21 - Detroit, Michigan. The Piquette Street Fisher Body Plant has been closed since 1984. When it was opened in 1919, it was state of the art. Designed by Albert Kahn, it has reinforced concrete floors and floor to ceiling windows. Six stories high, each floor held heavy equipment. Albert Kahn was responsible for many historic buildings in the Motor City. The early auto industry spawned hundreds of small start-up companies and many of them just built parts. Originally Fisher Body built car bodies for many different automakers, but was bought by General Motors in the 1920s. All GM cars featured "Body by Fisher." Urban artists and explorers have been entering and altering this building with wall art. via 500px http://j.mp/VLweR6
