Lady Anne's Door by srprice13

After the English Civil War, Skipton castle was 'demilitarised' - it could not have canon bearing surfaces. In the 1600's Lady Anne Clifford undertook extensive restorations, to make the Castle more a home, than fortress. This door and the stairs leading up to it are one of her modifications. To the right, you step up to the old Norman entrance where the Portcullis would have been (you can still see the slots for it). via 500px http://j.mp/1xGx5oR
