To begin with, unlike my other recent storm shots, the lightning strikes in this image are from multiple exposures blended into the one shot. What I wanted to try and illustrate here was an epic, high intensity scene of a city being powered up by lightning. The decision to present this in black and white didn’t come easily and was something I deliberated on for a while. Firstly, I rarely shoot in mono so it’s not something I’m necessarily too proficient in. Secondly, the colour version just looked so cool. As you can see, the decision I rested on was to keep in theme of the image and felt that the mono gave this a more impactful presence. via 500px http://j.mp/1DXDRb8
