The Giants Tomb of Li Lolghi by Ringhio

The Giants Tomb of Li Lolghi – Tomba dei giganti di li Lolghi Arzchena (OT) - Sardinia - Italy Giants' grave (Italian: Tomba dei giganti, Sardinian: Tumbas de sos zigantes) is the name given by local people and archaeologists to a type of Sardinian megalithic gallery grave built during the Bronze Age by the Nuragic civilization. They can be found throughout Sardinia, with 321 being discovered there. The first Giant's Tombs, however, could date from the second half of the 3rd millennium BC, and could have been used up to the end of the Iron Age: that is the case of Li Lolghi, a monument built in the middle Bronze Age. This is the long corridor funeral after which there is a slab with horizontal shelf function perhaps for offerings or cult objects "Popular folklore holds that these tombs were the burial site for giants that once dominated the mountainous lands in western Sardinia." via 500px http://j.mp/1IvSCCH
