Scala del Bovolo by stefangrosjean

This is the spiral staircase of the Palazzo Contarini del Bovolo in Venice, Italy, lit by the morning sun. I had to climb on a fence to get this photo because what you don't see on this picture is how close the walls from the surounding buildings stand on all sides. You always feel like you want to step further back to take in the whole staircase at once but you're already pressing your back at the wall of another house. There's almost not enough room to fully admire this 500 year old marvel of architecture. via 500px http://j.mp/1K0AdPk
