Antiquarium by marc-haegeman

Munich - Residenz - The Antiquarium. This lavish hall (1568-1571) was intended to house the collection of antique sculptures of the Bavarian duke Albrecht V, but was later transformed into a banqueting hall (1581-1600). The decorations (including allegorical figures by court painter Peter Candid and 102 views of towns, markets and palaces in the former Duchy of Bavaria) date from that time. The Antiquarium is 66 meters long and is the oldest part of the Residenz complex. © Copyright 2014 Marc Haegeman.
