De Grote of St.Laurenskerk or The Big or St. Laurenschurch The church is usually called by the paople Laurenschurch and it is the building in Rotterdam of late gothic architecture. It was build between 1449 and 1525 For many it's the symbol of the history of Rotterdam. In the medival times one could buy citizinship by buying 3000 stones for the churchtower. In 1572 the Reformation found place, and the Laurenschurch became a protestant church. In the bomardement on Rotterdam at the 14th of may 1940, the church was badly damaged by the fire.
