Jockey Club Creative Arts Centre (JCCAC) by FreemanLaw

This former factory building was once home to Hong Kong’s numerous cottage industries. Now it houses the Jockey Club Creative Arts Centre (JCCAC), in which more than 100 artists and art organisations pursue works across a wide array of art forms, including painting, sculpture, ceramics, glass art, printmaking, installation, photography, animation, video production, music, dance and drama. Through its award-winning conversion, the building has maintained its original open, ventilated structure, which allows the courtyard to be viewed from every level. The rooftop has been renovated with a glass roof to help facilitate carnivals and exhibitions, while the basement has a black box theatre. The centre holds year-round events, including the annual JCCAC Arts Festival in December, the quarterly JCCAC Arts and Crafts Fair, themed exhibitions, experimental stage performances, guided cultural tours and art workshops.
