A view from outside the rempart on the Pont d'Avignon. The Palais des Papes is a historical palace in Avignon, southern France, one of the largest and most important medieval Gothic buildings in Europe. One time fortress and palace, the papal residence was the seat of Western Christianity during the 14th century. HDR. I am still very busy and I am flying to Australia tomorrow. This Church is located in Bloomfield Township, MI. It's design was patterned off of Melrose Abbey in Scotland. I was going for a sort of Flash Gordon feel with this edit. via 500px http://j.mp/1ioS3hb

My next four images will show you a less photographed part of the Ryman. Halfway up the stairs leading to the balcony is this plant and this is its life, living in a small corner of the world with good light. I cannot help but feel that this is also true for many people. Where we end up is not always where we thought we would be. Most people will walk right past this scene, just another decorative plant, but photographers are not most people. Kirk in the Hills by swosina

Architect George D. Mason designed the present church. Wirt Rowland had made preliminary designs for the church before World War II, but Rowland died in 1946 and the Mason design was not based on the Rowland sketches. Services were held in the Undercroft beginning in 1952 and continued during the construction of the church until a disastrous fire destroyed most of the roof. The Church held its first services in the sanctuary on November 23, 1958. Set on 40 acres (160,000 m2) of beautifully landscaped lakeside grounds, Kirk in the Hills constitutes a fine example of Gothic architecture in the United States. Kirk is the Scottish word for Church. Kirk in the Hills is patterned after Melrose Abbey in Scotland. via 500px http://j.mp/1cR2NQr
