Illumination by ottoberkeley

This is the lower concourse at Gants Hill, one of the London Underground stations at the east end of the Central Line. The station's architect, Charles Holden, provided construction advice on the Russian Metro during the 1930s, and his influences are visible in this station's barrel-vaulted halls, which also served as an air raid shelter and a munitions factory during the Second World War.
