Beyond The Veil Of Death V by MarselvanOosten

The fifth and last image from the series ‘Beyond the veil of death’ that won me Third Prize in this year’s International Photography Awards - shot in foggy conditions in Deadvlei, Namibia. For this shot I was drawn to the base of this little tree - the curve and the texture. My position was very close to the tree, so depth of field was an issue. Stopping down the lens to f/16 still didn't give me enough DOF to render the trees in the background sharp, so I ended up taking different shots, each focusing at a different distance. As with the other shots, it was a game of inches - moving tiny bits from side to side, trying to find the right position to get the perfect distribution of trees in the background. - - - If you're interested in joining us to Namibia, please check out our website for more information: squiver.com We were the first company to offer specialized photography tours to Namibia, and we are still the only one that offers microlight flights over the famous Namibian sand dunes. There is no better organized Namibia tour out there. Both 2015 tours are already fully booked, but you can still reserve a spot for the 2016 tour on our website. Hope to see you there!
