Vallo di Nera (TR) - La chiesa di Santa Maria risale all’epoca imperiale è infatti menzionata in un documento del 1176. Agli inizi del Trecento, la chiesa passò ai Minori Conventuali. Di fianco, venne costruito il convento di cui si ha notizia fin dal 1336. I francescani ingrandirono la chiesa originaria dedicandola a S. Francesco e trasformarono in campanile una delle torri di difesa. Nel 1652, sotto il pontificato d’Innocenzo X, la chiesa venne dedicata a Maria Assunta. --The church of Santa Maria dates back to imperial is in fact mentioned in a document of 1176.
