Stairs in the Château d'Abbadie. Château d'Abbadie is a château in Hendaye, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, France. Built between 1864 and 1879, it was designed in the neo-Gothic style by E. Viollet-le-Duc and incorporated many enigmatic features characteristic of its owner, the explorer Antoine Thomson d'Abbadie. Le château-observatoire Abbadia est un château de style néogothique situé sur la commune d'Hendaye (Pyrénées-Atlantiques), dans la province du Labourd (à 6 km de Saint-Jean-de-Luz et 1 km d'Hendaye).
